Tammy: I was really priding myself on selling insurance to people for the right reasons, having really good conversations with people, but I was a little nervous to approach my friends.
I had a conversation with my best friend about her risks - she had since developed a family, she had a couple of children, her husband was self-employed. We put together in place a disability program, a life insurance program, and all of the things that could help protect them.
A few months later, she called me and her husband had a serious motorcycle accident. He was in critical care in the hospital and had been air lifted.
She had no idea how she was going to manage without him and how she was going to take care of her family. And I had the pleasure of saying to her, "You need to take care of your husband, because we’ve got you covered about the money."
I was at the hospital for 4 days straight with her and didn’t know if he was going to survive. But knowing that we could help her made it bearable.
If I turn it around, and I can’t imagine how I would have felt if I hadn’t had that conversation. In the end, he actually lived in the hospital for several months.
A long recovery, but he is fully recovered now. It was a time where you really get to see the value of what we do. It’s the best feeling to be there when they need you most.
When their worst thing in life happens, you are the one person who can actually help them.

Jai: I was at the office on a Saturday, by myself, and I received a call from one of my clients, that they were in the middle of their house being on fire.
I heard her voice on the other end, and you know, human nature, and also my role as their agent led me to go. I would have went even if I wasn’t their agent.
Once I arrived at the scene of the fire, I comforted our client, and I gave them a peace of mind that everything is going to be OK. And I basically outlined the next steps, and I was here to help them through the next steps.
I realize that I did make a big difference. I mean, they are still my clients today, we still talk about it, you know, we reminisce. Sometimes, tears even come back from them, when they think back to how the loss was.
They still thank me for my part and how I helped through the process.
On that day, I realized how much of an impact I can have on someone’s life.

So it was seven in the evening by the time I wrapped up everything and drove to her house for an hour.

Dita: It was a Friday and it was around four o’clock when one of my clients called. She said, "Dita, I just purchased a car, picking up tomorrow. I need insurance and financing. By the time everything was done, it was six in the evening. And I said to my client, "Yes, got you approved." She was happy.
But what happened is that she had no way of coming to my office because her home was one hour away. I kind of sensed how important it was for her to pick up that car in the morning on a Saturday.
